     Alfred Russell Goodrich was born on 29 September 1818 at Gill, Massachusetts.² He was the son of Alfred Goodrich and Abigail Howland.¹ He married Charlotte Dobson, daughter of Hon. Peter Dobson, on 18 October 1847.³

     Transcribed from Case: "educated at the Deerfield Academy, and afterward became a teacher there and for a time had full charge; began the study of medicine in 1843, and graduated at the Berkshire Medical College in 1846; afterward continued his studies in the College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York City, where he began the practice of medicine; afterward went to Vernon, Conn., and engaged in mercantile and manufacturing enterprises. In 1870, he was representative to the general assembly, and in 1871 was a candidate for congress, but failed of election by a few votes; in 1873, he was elected State comptroller, and was reelected for three successive terms; in 1874, he was elected president of the Mutual Benefit Life Company, which position he now holds; is also a director of the Rockville Savings Bank, and president of the board of education of that town. In 1879, he was elected president of the Connecticut State Medical Society; he has been a member of the State board of agriculture, and now occupies various positions of honor and trust in his town and State; in 1882, he was elected State treasurer, and held the office two years. He married Charlotte Dobson, Oct. 18, 1847; she was a daughter of Hon. Peter Dobson, who came from England in 1809, and was a cotton manufacturer at Vernon, Conn. He was also a gentlemen of scientific tastes and attainments; in Silliman's "Journal of Arts and Sciences," July, 1842, p. 200, he is spoken of in high terms by Sir Roderick Impey Murchison, president of the Geological Society of London, as the first proposer of the present universally-accepted theory of "the wear of rocks and boulders by being suspended in ice and carried over rocks and earth under water," and "American science is congratulated in having possessed in him the original author of the best glacial theory yet known to the world."⁴

     Abigail Jane Goodrich was born on 21 September 1823.² She was the daughter of Alfred Goodrich and Lora Day Stebbins.¹ She has also been reported to have been born 21 September 1833.¹ As of 21 September 1847,her married name was Sheldon.¹ She married William Sheldon on 21 September 1847.¹

     William Sheldon married Abigail Jane Goodrich, daughter of Alfred Goodrich and Lora Day Stebbins, on 21 September 1847.¹

     Sarah Edwards Goodrich was born on 13 December 1824.¹ She was the daughter of Alfred Goodrich and Lora Day Stebbins.¹ Her married name was Dunbar.¹ She married Joseph F. Dunbar.¹

     Joseph F. Dunbar married Sarah Edwards Goodrich, daughter of Alfred Goodrich and Lora Day Stebbins.¹

     George Goodrich was born on 3 October 1826.¹

     James Ely Goodrich was born on 5 May 1828.² He was the son of Alfred Goodrich and Lora Day Stebbins.¹ He married Emma A. Jackman on 6 August 1858.² He resided at Colerain, Massachusetts.²

     Ralph Goodrich was born on 20 January 1830.² He was the son of Alfred Goodrich and Lora Day Stebbins.¹ He married Helen G. Horton on 5 January 1859.² He resided at Greenfield, Massachusetts.²

     Lora Jane Goodrich was born on 15 January 1834.² She has also been reported to have been born 15 January 1824.¹ She was the daughter of Alfred Goodrich and Lora Day Stebbins.¹ She died on 10 June 1861 at age 27.¹

     As of 24 May 1824,her married name was Goodrich.¹ Rachel Rugg married John Taintor Goodrich, son of George Goodrich and Lucinda Wells, on 24 May 1824.¹

     Mary W. Goodrich was born on 18 April 1825.¹ She was the daughter of John Taintor Goodrich and Rachel Rugg.¹ As of 30 June 1849,her married name was Clark.¹ She married Watson Clark on 30 June 1849.¹

     Watson Clark married Mary W. Goodrich, daughter of John Taintor Goodrich and Rachel Rugg, on 30 June 1849.¹

     Samuel R. Goodrich was born on 3 October 1826.¹ He was the son of John Taintor Goodrich and Rachel Rugg.¹ He died on 20 July 1841 at age 14.¹

     Charlotte L. Goodrich was born on 20 August 1828.¹ She was the daughter of John Taintor Goodrich and Rachel Rugg.¹ She died on 9 July 1832 at age 3.¹

     As of 1 January 1790,her married name was Goodrich.¹ Hannah Bailey married Elias Goodrich, son of Peter Goodrich and Bathsheba Miller, on 1 January 1790.¹ She and Elias Goodrich resided at Berlin, Connecticut.¹

     Horace Goodrich was born on 13 June 1791.² He was the son of Elias Goodrich and Hannah Bailey.¹ He married Martha Winchell on 10 March 1814.²

     Sarah Goodrich was born on 17 September 1793.¹ She was the daughter of Elias Goodrich and Hannah Bailey.¹

     Hannah Goodrich was born on 13 January 1796.¹ She was the daughter of Elias Goodrich and Hannah Bailey.¹

     As of 16 November 1797,her married name was Goodrich.¹ Sarah Danforth married Luther Goodrich, son of Peter Goodrich and Bathsheba Miller, on 16 November 1797.¹

     Sarah Goodrich was born on 1 July 1800.¹ She was the daughter of Luther Goodrich and Sarah Danforth.¹ She died on 10 July 1825 at age 25.¹
